The new Experimental Centre for Puppetry Arts in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria, is conceived as an ambitious and contemporary cultural venue.
It complements the existing theatre building, together forming a cohesive architectural ensemble.
The new building is envisioned as a creative incubator – a place for exceptional theatre performances, interdisciplinary encounters, and the further development of the art of puppetry.
It provides artists with the space to freely explore their ideas, engage in dialogue with one another, and develop new forms of artistic expression.
The architectural design creates a spacious and welcoming foyer, which also serves as the new main entrance to the entire theatre complex. Between the new building and the existing theatre, a clearly proportioned courtyard forms a connecting outdoor space that brings the two structures together.
The flexibly designed floor plans allow for a wide variety of uses and event formats throughout the year. This creates a versatile setting for performances, events, and cultural encounters in a broad range of formats.
